First of all, we would like to thank you for considering Elk Grove Hearing Care to meet your hearing healthcare needs! We are so thrilled to have the opportunity to serve Elk Grove and the greater Sacramento area and relish the chance to educate and show those with hearing loss, as well as their family members, why choosing us is the best decision. Our experience as hearing healthcare providers has allowed for us to anticipate the needs of our patients as well as many of the questions initially asked. To read answers to three of the most commonly asked questions by new patients, please read the article published in the San Joaquin Magazine by Amy (at the time of publishing her last name was Wusstig, not White). We have painstakingly created our business model using lessons we have learned throughout our careers to be tailor-fit to best serve our patients. In our opinion, this is an approach unique to us in the Elk Grove area.
Before a recommendation for treatment can be made, a thorough hearing evaluation must be performed. There are some types of hearing loss that can be treated by physicians through surgical techniques or medications, while other types of hearing loss cannot be medically treated but may be helped by the use of hearing devices. There are yet other hearing losses that may not be helped by hearing devices but require more aggressive treatment through the use of cochlear implants. At Elk Grove Hearing Care we fully evaluate each patients hearing abilities using comprehensive audiometry and tympanometry as well as speech-in-noise testing and real-ear measures. We always use the most up-to-date equipment, ensuring we are achieving the most accurate measurements. Following an analysis of the results, we will recommend the best next step, whether that be referrals to other physicians or practices, or a trial with hearing devices.
No Obligation Trials
If hearing devices are recommended, you can rest assured that you will only be fitted with the most recent technology from only top tier major manufacturers. We are not in any way restricted to any one manufacturer and therefore, will only recommend what we feel is the best fit for each individual. In our experience, there is not one manufacturer best suited for each individual as everyone’s perception of sound is as unique as a fingerprint which is why we feel it is vital to offer multiple manufacturers and choices. Once a device has been selected and fitted, we then enter a trial period. We understand that the financial commitment and time commitment required to purchase hearing devices can be overwhelming, therefore, during our trial period you will wear your new hearing devices home with absolutely no obligation to purchase. Each patient will have the opportunity to experience a world of sound with their new devices for a full month without any expense. All we ask is that you do your homework… by wearing them EVERYDAY!
We cannot stress the importance of follow-up care enough! People with hearing loss have most likely acquired the deficit over many years as it has slowly and progressively worsened. Therefore, the auditory system and brain cannot handle being immediately stimulated with the full amount of sound required to hear the best. Because of this, hearing devices are not usually turned up to their recommended levels on the first day. In fact, it usually takes four to six weeks for the brain to fully adapt to all of this new sound. Therefore, we see all of our patients back every two weeks for the first month or two until this adaptation process has been achieved. Following this, it is vital that you return for bi-annual appointments. At these visits we clean your devices and check to make sure they are functioning properly. On an annual basis we will be updating your hearing test so that adjustments can be made to the programming in your hearing devices as your hearing loss changes. All of these follow-up appointments (as well as any other visits in between) are included with the purchase of your hearing devices.
We have learned that successful use of hearing devices and management of hearing losses relies heavily on developing a long-term relationship with each individual. We are certain that you will find great success and happiness with the world of sound we offer through a relationship with your providers at Elk Grove Hearing Care. We look forward to meeting you soon and invite you to stop by anytime to learn more about what we have to offer. Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
